“I feel like Vince sometimes” – Chris Jericho says his role in AEW is similar to that of Vince McMahon in WWE

Chris Jericho says his role in AEW is similar to that of Vince McMahon in WWE. The veteran wrestler is arguably the biggest star at AEW.

AEW is a young promotion. The responsibility to carry the company on their back was first given to Chris Jericho. As the most prominent name on the roster, Y2J was instrumental in AEW establishing itself before he dropped the World title to Jon Moxley. He may not be champion any longer, however, he’s still looking out for the development of the talent in the promotion.

During his conversation with Stone Cold Steve Austin on Broken Skull Sessions, Jericho compared himself with Vince McMahon. He told the Texas Rattlesnake that just like the WWE Chairman, he also had a lot of responsibilities backstage as well.

”If people have questions, ideas or concerns, my door is getting knocked on. I feel like Vince sometimes. There is a lineup of people to talk to me because I have the advice. Not only telling you what you want to hear but also telling what you don’t want to hear. So that is my responsibility.”

He also told Stone Cold that he constantly reminds the younger stars not to take their opportunities for granted and should appreciate the fact that they are part of something historic.

Jericho has not been in the AEW World Championship picture for quite some time now but he still plays a prominent role within the promotion. Just as he did with the WWE, Jericho has been building future stars in the WWE such as MJF and Orange Cassidy.
