“LeBron James would lose all his sponsors if America believed in justice”: Candace Owens accuses Lakers star of destabilizing peace for his deleted tweet on Ma’Khia Bryant
Conservative BIPOC political analyst Candace Owens accuses Americans of ‘double standards’ for not cancelling LeBron James for his tweets.
All of USA has been in a state of high tensions regarding racially motivated police brutality. Derek Chauvin was under trial this month, and the verdict of the George Floyd murder found him guilty on all counts.
In the wake of this ruling, BLM supporters and activists urged people not to take the eye off the ball. The aim has been to try and highlight other similar cases of police brutality against BIPOC.
Naturally, the shooting at Columbus, Ohio found some international limelight due to its timing. The police department released body cam footage from the cops on Tuesday evening.
Ma’Khia lunged at another girl with a knife in her hand before the officer fired at her. Nevertheless, there are those who believe that the police could have handled the situation without firing shots at a teenager.
LeBron seemed to make a statement condemning the cop for shooting a black kid in cold blood without watching this tape. He was roundly criticized by all factions of American society for his callously misinformed tweet.
Candace Owens claims that ‘America doesn’t want justice’ citing this LeBron James tweet
Candace Owens is an outspoken Conservative speaker who has roundly criticized athletes in the past. Given the dedication of the 4 American sports leagues to making political statements, many Conservative viewers have turned away.
Owens embodied this spirit and questioned how LeBron hasn’t lost his sponsors for his tweet: “If America was a country that believed in justice, Lebron James would be stripped of all of his sponsorships.”

Owens’ rather crude attempt at comparing LeBron’s actions to those of a convicted criminal reek of double standards. If speaking out of ignorance was a crime, Owens herself would never find another platform. Her disbelieving views on climate change and global warming make it tough for an international audience to take her too seriously.
Nevertheless, she does have a point: LeBron deserves a little more than getting away with this ‘apology’. He put the life of an officer doing in duty in potential danger.
