“It’s a good learning experience” – Haas rookie Nikita Mazepin getting to grips with Formula 1
“It’s a good learning experience” – Haas driver Nikita Mazepin is getting to grips with Formula 1, after a challenging first two races of his debut season.
“So far, F1 has been surprisingly intense to me.”
Russian rookie Nikita Mazepin had a debut to forget in the Sakhir International Circuit, going out in the very first lap. He lost control of his Haas and was hitting the wall seconds into the race. He had also similarly struggled during the pre-season and over the course of the weekend in Bahrain.
“I knew it would be intense but the two qualifying sessions I have had were rather hectic. The time is shorter and there were loads of things that were happening.”
So, according to rumours, Gene Haas is pulling out of #F1 and sadly selling out to Dmitry Mazepin, and might include a sponsorship agreement, with a 🤡 we all know too well…😩 pic.twitter.com/icJSyz7mIX

Nikita Mazepin had a satisfying Imola GP
But he had a much better race in Imola, finishing the race, significantly. He admits he was not prepared for this intensity, but is ready to learn and improve as the season moves on to Portimao for the third round of the season. For Haas, both him and Mick Schumacher completing the race would come as a huge plus point in their battle vs Williams.
“So much happened. From starting in the wets and not really expecting it because the sun was shining not long before the start, then the red flag, so loads of things happening. It’s a good learning experience in the bag and to see the chequered flag was good.”
