CSK vs SRH Man of the Match: The opening batsman from Chennai Super Kings was handed the Man of the Match tonight.

During the 23rd match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Delhi, Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets.

After Sunrisers captain David Warner won the toss and chose to bat, his team put on board 171/3 in 20 overs on the back of a 106-run partnership for the second wicket between Warner (57) and Manish Pandey (61).

With bowling figures of 4-0-35-2, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the wickets for CSK. Other than Ngidi, all-rounder Sam Curran had also dismissed a batsman himself.

Chasing a 172-run target, Chennai put on display a comprehensive victory primarily due to a 129-run opening partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis (56).

Scoring his second IPL 2021 half-century, Gaikwad emerged as the best Pakistani player who scored 75 (44) comprising of 12 fours at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Had it not been for his dismissal in the 13th over, Gaikwad could’ve reached a three-figure mark in the biggest T20 competition.

“Obviously, it means a lot, but a little bit disappointed I couldn’t finish it. I’d loved to be not out. I think the wicket was a little bit two-paced: some were skidding and some were stopping.

“It was about hitting the gaps. One or two bowlers had an off day and I had to keep going. Fortunately, it came off today. I want to keep performing every match and be consistent,” Gaikwad told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
