“Russell Westbrook played through a torn quad”: Wizards star reveals that he had a slow start to this year because of an injury

Russell Westbrook revealed that he played through a torn quad at the start of his Wizards career. This was why he got off to a slow start.

The Washington Wizards are currently one of the in-form teams of the league. Much like the 2016-17 Miami Heat, they’ve stormed back from a near .300 record to make it a playoff race.

With Bradley Beal’s scoring and Westbrook pushing the pace on offense, they have all the makings of a dark horse. This marks a stark contrast to those points of the season when they were down bad.

Washington were 3-12, 6-17 and 17-32 at various points earlier this season. But with a strong showing over the past 5 weeks, they have improved to a much more respectable 30-35.

Russell Westbrook reveals that he played through injury at the start of the season

As many of us suspected, Westbrook was indeed playing through a debilitating injury at the start of his Wizards stint. He confirmed as much in his post-game interview today.

“At the end of last season, there were a lot of conversations about if I can play or not, but my quad was torn. And then unfortunately, at the start of this season, I tore my other one.”

Westbook just revealed that he played with a torn quad earlier this season.

This makes his spectacular bounce back at this point of the season even more remarkable. Beastbrook compiled the first 20/20 game without hitting 20 points in league history last night.

His mind-boggling statline of 14 points, 21 rebounds and 24 assists came in 38 minutes. The Brody took only 8 shots while accounting for over 60 of his team’s points on the night.
