When IPL 2021 will restart: Will ECB change England vs India fixtures for IPL 2021?
When IPL 2021 will restart: Indian Premier League 2021 was postponed after several players contacted the virus earlier this month.
The now-postponed 14th season of the Indian Premier League had become the first-ever season of the cash-rich tournament to be brought to a halt midway.
The authorities had no other option than to delay the tournament especially after as many as four players from three different franchises had tested positive for COVID-19. Other than the players, three staff members of Chennai Super Kings had also returned positive coronavirus results.
When IPL 2021 will restart?
Considering the scale of the IPL, a failure in the resumption of the tournament will lead to losses mounting around INR 2,500 crore for the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
To minimize the losses, BCCI are highly likely to make all possible efforts to resume the tournament. At this point in time, one can’t confirm a date in the calendar regarding the resumption.
Having said that, there have been reports of the tournament beginning again in late-September after the conclusion of India’s tour of England. Apart from this slot, IPL 2021 could also be arranged after the completion of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Will ECB change England vs India fixtures for IPL 2021?
It was as recent as yesterday that there were reports of the BCCI writing to ECB (England Cricket Board) with respect to altering the schedule of a five-match Test series between England and India to accommodate IPL 2021 in the international calendar.
While changing the dates of the Test series would have multiple consequences for the English Board, such a move appears unlikely after an official statement from one of their spokespersons.

“We talk to the BCCI on a regular basis about a wide range of issues especially as we address the challenges of Covid-19, but have had no official request to change dates and are continuing to plan for the five Test series as is scheduled,” an ECB spokesperson was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz earlier this morning.
