No one can possibly deny that the addition of the play-in tournament has superseded all exceptions set for it. We have witnessed a few action-packed games over the last four days. On Friday night, the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors team hosted a young Memphis Grizzlies team at the Chase Center.

With the two teams playing the last match of the controversial play-in tournament, it was hyped up to be a great battle. As promised, the matchup for the final playoffs seat was an epic one, which went down to the wire. It was the determined Grizzlies team who played their heart out and grabbed a 117-112 hard-fought overtime win against the 2018 champions.

In an incredible duel between the two guards, Ja Morant’s 35 points and 5 assists performance outshone Steph’s brave 39-point efforts.

It was a well-fought game, however, Memphis did have an early 13-point lead over Golden State. Playing with tons of grit, the Warriors weren’t ready to give yet. Overcoming a 10-point lead with only 3 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Steve Kerr’s side had the possession with the game tied at 99 apiece.

With 9 seconds left on the clock, Chef Curry brought the ball in the frontcourt. Being surrounded by Memphis uniforms all around him, the 2-time MVP passed the ball to a wide-open Draymond Green, who missed a game-winning floater.

Analyst Skip Bayless took no time in criticising the Warriors’ 3-time All-Star for his missed shot that hit “nothing but the backboard”. Skip took it to Twitter and said:

“Draymond can be such an offensive liability. Steph set him up with a wide-open runner in the lane to win at the buzzer. He threw up a wild “I don’t want to shoot this” shot that missed the rim and hit nothing but backboard. Steph should’ve launched a 1-on-2 three.”

In all fairness to Skip Bayless, Draymond was pretty wide open and should’ve scored a critical basket for their most important game of the season. However, the Warriors end their incredible 2020-2021 campaign, while Ja Morant is able to lead his Grizzlies team to the playoffs for the first time in four years.
