“Charles Barkley has sponsored students to the tune of $3 million”: Sixers legend honored by Alabama hometown school for donation to school employees
Charles Barkley is one of those millionaires who always try to give back to their communities. The NBA legend was recently in the news for the same.
One of the most uplifting things that millionaire athletes have consistently done over the years is community work. The trend among successful sportspersons has always been to help out in charitable causes wherever they can.
We’ve all heard incidents of how Ronaldo pays off treatment charges for fans who write to him for help. Well, Charles Barkley may not be raking it in the same ballpark. But the Alabama native has always done his level best to give back to the community.
Chuck has been a public figure for 37 years now. The former Auburn grad had a Hall of Fame career in the league, consistently ranking among the NBA’s most efficient scorers and rebounders.
After his retirement in 2000, Charles Barkley took a brief hiatus before returning to the basketball world. This time, the Chuckster came back in the garb of an analyst on national television.
Barkley has arguably been even better as a sportscaster than as a player. He’s pushed the boundaries of sports talk shows along with the likes of Kenny, Ernie and Shaq. They’ve put together a program that most people consider to be the most watchable sports show in American sports.
So while Barkley may not be raking it in like in his playing days, he’s still taking home some sizable pie. He feels that one of the best ways to give back to the community is through the education system.

“Being a school employee is tough, but driving a bus, teaching, coaching, or working in the cafeteria, all while maintaining safety protocols, has been a daunting task during a worldwide pandemic.”
As sports fans, you just love to see it when a hometown hero changes his own community for the better.
