“It couldn’t have gone better”– Helmut Marko on Red Bull Monaco GP success
“It couldn’t have gone better”– Helmut Marko, delighted with the work done by both Red Bull drivers in Monaco, claims it to be a perfect weekend.
With the victory in Monaco, Red Bull leads not only the constructors’ championship, but also the drivers’ championship, though on a marginal difference only.
But it was a huge positive for Red Bull, and Helmut Marko is pleased with the performance in Monte Carlo and claims that it couldn’t have been better.
“Super, super. Only the race didn’t want to end!” Marko told Servus TV. “We were in front and controlled everything – the tyres, the fuel. You can already hear the alarm bells ringing here and there. But it was a great race, also from Perez. We lead both championships. It couldn’t have gone better.”
After the race, Marko appeared in front of the podium and greeted Verstappen with all warmth before the Dutchman went to collect his trophy.
Max Verstappen thrilled
It was Verstappen’s race to lose after Charles Leclerc lost his pole position to DNS, and the Dutch race driver made the most out of the opportunity to bag 25 points.
“It’s been an amazing day, of course. I think once we had the lead in Turn 1 from there onwards, we could manage the pace quite well. And look after the tyres.”
“Because I mean, around here, it’s all about just keeping them alive. Basically, try to go as long as you can and find a pit gap. “But of course, I think Valtteri was struggling a bit at one point with his tyres, and he had to pit, but yeah, it was, of course, it always looks like it’s going quite smooth.”
“But around here, keeping the concentration for so long. It’s not easy. But, overall, super happy to to win here!”
