‘No way we’re winning a game, let alone the series’: Anthony Davis explains how Lakers could end up losing playoff series vs Suns
Anthony Davis puts out a brutally honest statement after his dismal performance in the Lakers’ game one loss vs the Phoenix Suns.
Game one just wasn’t it for Anthony Davis and the Lakers. Their opponents in the Suns looked hungry from the jump. They came out and scored 32 points in the first quarter, as opposed to LA’s 25.
And coupled with the fact that the reigning champions looked groggy at best at times, this culminated in their opponents jumping out to a 13-point lead in the third. And while there was a slight resurgence from the Lakers in the fourth, they eventually lost by 9 points.
No one on the LakeShow did particularly well during this match. However, Anthony Davis was by far had the worst performance, and was a downright liability at times for the team.
After the game, the Brow was asked about his outing against the Suns. And in response, the reporters received a brutally honest answer that has since shocked many. Let’s get into it.

“I missed a ton of shots”: Anthony Davis takes full responsibility for the Lakers’ loss in game 1
During the game, Anthony Davis had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in 38 minutes. He did this 5-16 from the field, and 0-2 from beyond the arc. This was a result of being a bit too unassertive during the game, and settling for jumpers far too much.
After the game, he was asked about his and the team’s performance, and what they need to do going forward. With a somber look on his face, this is what Davis had to say.
“I missed a ton of shots… We missed a ton of shots as a team. Scored 90 points…gave up eight offensive rebounds to Ayton alone…We played good defensively and we gave them a ton of points as well…We just have to be better on that end, but there’s no way we’re winning a game, let alone a series, with me playing the way I played.”

He further went on to add
“So this one is on me. I take full responsibility, for sure.”
It is definitely a good sign that the star is coming right out and taking responsibility for the loss. However, the player will need to be far more aggressive during game-2 if any real change is to come about for the LA Lakers.
