Kentavious Caldwell-Pope injury news: Lakers guard ruled out of Game 3 return with a quad contusion as LeBron James dominates Phoenix Suns
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope went off the floor with a torn quad in the 3rd quarter of the Lakers’ Game 4 canter over the Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers sealed a series-reverting 2-1 lead in today’s game vs the Phoenix Suns. LeBron James and Anthony Davis seem to finally have shaken the rust off and reached playoff form. The results of this were understandably disastrous to the Suns’ chances.
Lakers nation gave up a 1-point lead in the first quarter to the Suns. Chris Paul had taken his shoulder wrap off and looked sprier than Games 1 and 2 this time around. His hot start fizzled out soon, however, as the Suns scored just 14 points in the second quarter.
Much of this had to do with the amazing guard defense played by both Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Alex Caruso. The defensive aces held Devin Booker and co to a bad shooting night when on the floor. Book ended up with terrible shooting numbers overall.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope exits Game 3 with quad contusion
KCP went down clutching his thigh area in the 3rd quarter of today’s game. He was escorted to the locker room by the Lakers’ medical staff as the guard was struggling to even keep standing.
The Lakers didn’t immediately rule KCP out for the game though. They first held him out as ‘questionable’ given the Suns’ scoring situation in the 3rd quarter.
They were immediately able to exercise extra caution shortly after, as LeBron and AD combined to practically secure the game. He was officially declared out for the rest of the game at the start of the 4th quarter.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has a left quad contusion, per the Lakers, and is questionable to return.
