“He has a bit of a rocket”– Carlos Sainz is impressed with his former teammate Lando Norris’ performances and pace lately.
In the first five races of the season, Lando Norris has managed to bag two podiums, that is the most after the famous trio of Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas.
Carlos Sainz, his former teammate at McLaren, is mighty impressed by Norris’ growth this year and claims that the Briton has a rocket stuck in his car.
“I think the one that now should be excited about Baku is my friend Lando Norris,” Sainz said in a post-race press conference. He has a bit of a rocket on the straight, and the car was definitely not bad last year in Monza, not bad around Monaco, so maybe I will bet for you.”
“He put me under pressure coming into this weekend saying that I might have the chance to win. Let’s see if I’m right in Baku.”
Daniel Ricciardo in crisis
Whilst the former couple is enjoying their time together, even in different teams, Daniel Ricciardo, on the other side, is struggling to adapt to the new machinery he got at McLaren.
This brings him even more pressure when a youngster like Norris is giving in much better results comparatively in the same car. Though, Norris has better knowledge about the working of McLaren and managed to settle quickly even with the new power unit.
While every other race driver with a new team is struggling on the track, the only exception being Sainz, who has consistently been giving in consistent results.
It remains to be seen when will Ricciardo’s woes at McLaren will come to an end, as McLaren heads to Baku intending to extend the lead against Ferrari and concrete their claim to P3 in the constructors’ table.
