“You didn’t experience the other half of Orlando”: Lakers star LeBron James receives response from Orlando’s mayor following his recent “PTSD” comments
LeBron James receives a response from Orlando’s mayor after the Lakers legend jokingly criticized the city for giving him PTSD during his time in the NBA Bubble.
The 2019-2020 NBA season was one of the strangest seasons ever. With the deadly COVID-19 pandemic causing havoc, Adam Silver was forced to pause the season indefinitely. As the situation improved, the association agreed to resume the remainder of the campaign in a bio-bubble at the Walt Disney World, Orlando.
The entire event was a once in a lifetime experience for all the players. While it was something new, fun and different for the viewers, it was surely a mentally taxing experience for many players. Teams had to live in the Bubble for over three months, without their families for the majority of the time.
For LeBron James and his 2020 Lakers team, the time down in Orlando was surely triumphant as they managed to overcome many adversities and win one of the most difficult championships of all time.
“Next time you visit, you’ll see how vibrant our community is”: Buddy Dyer to LeBron James
Several players, including superstar LeBron himself, had disregarded the possibility of yet another bubble for the 2020-2021 season. Clearly, it was a hectic experience for the players. For Bron, the situation was so bad that he still gets PTSD hearing the word “Orlando”.
Sad news for any Magic fans, Bron jokingly stated how he would rather retire than play at Orlando. On an appearance on his “The Shop: Uninterrupted” show, James explained:
“I mean that’s part of the reason I haven’t taken my daughter to Disneyworld. You gotta understand, anytime I hear ‘Orlando’ right now, I get PTSD. I was in the Bubble, for 95 days.”
“They have no chance (of him playing for Orlando). I’m not going (if he gets traded). I’m just retiring, it’s over. ‘Bron has been traded to Orlando. LeBron lives in Malibu’.”
I’m certain that you didn’t experience the other half of Orlando during your time in the bubble last summer, @KingJames. Next time you’re here, let’s go out for lunch.
You’ll see that our community is diverse, inclusive and vibrant. https://t.co/UJl7jkMAI1

Bron’s subtle diss on Orlando caused the mayor of the city to reply to LBJ. Replying to the viral video, Buddy Dyer was certain that King James hadn’t experienced the “other half of Orlando”. Dyer further wrote:
“I’m certain that you didn’t experience the other half of Orlando during your time in the bubble last summer, @KingJames. Next time you’re here, let’s go out for lunch. You’ll see that our community is diverse, inclusive and vibrant.”
