“I have to push myself to adapt to the car”– Carlos Sainz talks about his instant click with Ferrari while other drivers with new teams struggle.

Carlos Sainz has managed to settle in Ferrari pretty quickly and also proving his critics wrong in the way. Since his first race for Ferrari in Bahrain to a podium in Monaco, his trajectory has only been upwards.

It is amusing to see him getting a podium before Charles Leclerc this year but eventually tells how much Sainz worked this pre-season. The Spaniard, in an interview, explained how he settled in Ferrari.

“The way I drive, the way I brake, the way I accelerate in different places and on different corners has changed a lot,” Sainz said. “I have to push myself to be an open-minded driver and adapt to the car, and I actually enjoy it quite a lot.”

While Sainz is thriving in Ferrari, his counterparts like Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo, recently employed by Red Bull and McLaren, are yet to found their ground with their new teams.

That information is for the team.

When asked about the difference between Ferrari and McLaren this year that could determine the P3 race between the two teams, Sainz was hesitant to comment on that but pointed few points.

“Of course, I keep this information for myself and my team. Frankly, McLaren may have changed a bit with the Mercedes engine as well. They look pretty good on the straights, especially this year, and they’re very, very strong in that area.”

“Whether at low speed, medium speed or high speed, in terms of driving and stability, these are completely different vehicles and in many ways I have to change and adapt.”

“I know the difference [between the two teams] but I won’t tell you that.”
