“Kawhi Leonard redeemed himself after that airball in Game 5”: Skip Bayless retrieves his Kawhi New Balance shoes from the trash after Clippers beat Mavs 126-111 in Game 7
Skip Bayless now has Kawhi Leonard and his shoe products back in his good graces after the LA Clippers beat the Mavericks in the first round.
Luka Doncic scored 46 points, dished 14 dimes and grabbed 7 boards on the night. But he could barely even take his team close to the Clippers, who clicked when the time was right. Their role players finally came to play and outplayed the Mavs bench.
The game began with the Mavericks raining 38 points in the first quarter. The Clippers weren’t too shabby to start off either as Kawhi provided them a jump-start with 13 points. They then shot to a halftime lead with a dominant 2nd quarter on both ends.
Luka brought the Mavericks briefly back in the game with a 5-point lead in the 3rd quarter. But that was as far as he could take them, as the rest of the team fell apart around him. The Mavs fell deeper and deeper into the hole as their bench added just 6 points in all.
Skip Bayless gets his Kawhi shoes back from the trash
Bayless has made a living off of making some of the most ridiculous takes on sports television. This man bet against his own Clippers pre-emptively against co-host Shannon Sharpe before Game 6 was even played.
The reverse jinx seems to have worked, or so Skip will claim tomorrow on TV anyway. The Mavs came a cropper down the stretch in both games as the Clippers made strong 3rd quarter runs to put away their opponents, both at the American Airlines Center and then back at the Staples for Game 7.
Skip could not help but rain a barrage of highly predictable tweets through the course of the game. He eventually stopped talking about basketball with a clip of him removing his red Kawhis from the trash.
Trash gets thrown out Sunday night at our house. So I managed to save these Kawhi’s. Did he ever redeem himself after Game 5’s closing air ball. pic.twitter.com/0JxHKKcUB6

He’d made a show of throwing them away on his show after Kawhi had airballed a possible game-tying 3-pointer in Game 5. It remains to be seen what antics he pulls tomorrow in the show. We’re not particularly interested in any kind of Luka slander that he might spew from time-to-time, but this man tends to be entertaining when he’s wrong.
