“Chris Paul is the MVP of the league but Devin Booker is the Suns MVP?”: Kenny Smith hilariously calls out Charles Barkley on some questionable logic
Charles Barkley claims Devin Booker is the Suns’ MVP but Chris Paul is the MVP of the league this season, a logic that stymied Kenny Smith.
The Phoenix Suns have been one of the better ‘feel-good’ stories across the league this season. Devin Booker has not only made his first Playoffs but has gotten to the second round with a roster that’s more than capable of reaching the NBA Finals. Chris Paul on the other hand was finally on the opposite end of his unfortunate luck with injuries with the Playoffs when going up against the Lakers.
The Suns’ success in the postseason should not come as a shock to anybody as anyone who watched the ‘Valley’ play in the regular season, knew they were legit. Chris Paul’s addition led to the Suns warranted an immediate turnaround for the franchise as he was arguably the best player on the team.
The value that CP3 brought the Suns impressed Charles Barkley to the point where he claimed during the season that the veteran point guard is the true MVP for 2020-21. Ahead of the Phoenix-Denver game, Chick seems to have found himself in somewhat of a loophole in terms of who the best ‘Sun’ is.
Kenny Smith checks Charles Barkley on what he said earlier about Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
Kenny Smith seems to very well remember what Chuck said about Chris Paul and his very real MVP candidacy. He brought it up when the former MVP claimed Devin Booker and Nikola Jokic are the best players on their respective teams. Of course, this goes against what he previously said about CP3 and him winning MVP.
So Charles Barkley thinks CP3 is the MVP of the league but not the MVP of his team lol pic.twitter.com/iNGzTQGor7

To be fair, Chuck gave his flowers to Chris Paul on being the best player on the Phoenix Suns in the regular season. However, with CP3 sustaining a right shoulder injury against the Lakers in the first round, Devin Booker helped carry Phoenix throughout the series, including a 47 point masterpiece in Game 6 to close out the defending champs.
So it does make sense that Sir Charles would possibly have a change of heart in who the best player on the Phoenix Suns is.
