“Donovan Mitchell needs to be mentioned alongside LeBron James and Kevin Durant”: Magic Johnson believes the Jazz stars deserves to be up there with the Lakers and Nets MVPs

Magic Johnson claims Donovan Mitchell needs to be mentioned alongside the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry. 

The Utah Jazz have taken a 0-2 series lead over the supposed Western Conference favorites and it isn’t all too surprising when breaking down the Jazz’s roster construction. Surrounding a clear superstar in Donovan Mitchell with shooters and bucket-getters on the perimeter and having a 3x DPOY down low to anchor the defense sounds like the perfect mesh of players to win a title together. 

Despite the fact that guys like Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and even Joe Ingles have been balling out, it’s Donovan Mitchell who’s been the talk of the team throughout these Playoffs. Right fully so as he’s 6-0 in this postseason (he did not play in their loss to the Grizzlies Game 1) and has been putting up monster statlines on the regular.

The Los Angeles Clippers, a team lauded for how switchable they are on defense with guys like Kawhi Leonard, PG13, and Marcus Morris out on the perimeter, has not been able to find any answer on how to stop or even slow down the 6’1 Donovan Mitchell. 

Magic Johnson wants Donovan Mitchell to receive more praise and to be put up alongside LeBron James and Kevin Durant. 

Magic Johnson has been quite active on Twitter for a couple years now and has provided fans with hot takes that has necessitated coverage from a bevy of media outlets. With Mitchell playing as good as he is, Magic says he wants him to receive recognition on the level of LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Donovan Mitchell is a bonafide superstar, scoring 45 points in Game 1 and 37 points in Game 2! We have to start mentioning his name more with the KDs, LeBrons, Stephs, etc.

Going by how guys like LeBron James and Kevin Durant were at Donovan’s age, this might be a slight stretch considering the fact that they were both leading their respective teams to the NBA Finals in the early to mid-20s. 

However, when discussing the hierarchy of players currently in the league, Mitchell has catapulted himself into the ‘Top 10’ conversation with ease.
