"James Harden Cashapped Saweetie $100k for a date": Nets star shoots down rumors that he paid a hunny bun through his latest Instagram story

James Harden emphatically shut down rumors going around that he Cashapped $100k to a woman in exchange for a date.

The Beard is one of the NBA’s most flamboyant players, both on and off the court. The former Rockets star has never been shy to live it up. In fact, his jersey hangs at the rooftop of one of Houston’s biggest strip clubs. He’s well known as a willing patron.

Given that he’s led this easygoing style of life for a while, it’s become easier for rumormongers to spread stuff. NBA Twitter is now reaching TMZ levels of gossip regarding players’ personal lives. Athletes stay acutely aware of whether someone’s recording them in public view.

But most of the time, they have little power in affecting what kind of word goes around about what they’re doing with their lives. And thus began a rumor linking Harden to rapper Saweetie. The details, however, sound inaccurate right off the bat.

It didn’t take long for this story to hit the interwebs and spread like wild fire. Many of them made the logically inconsistent leap that since Harden has paid for strippers in the past, it somehow indicates that he’s also likely to have paid for a date.

Most people with half a brain should realize that a desirable man like Harden would hardly have problems getting dates without paying. But for those who don’t, Harden put it out there. He didn’t flex or anything, he just put his message out there for everyone to see:

“I’m tired of people creating these false ass stories knowing I really don’t speak on the bullshit. Leave me out of all the weird shit. Shit trash. Back to my real life. People really on here just making shit up for clout. I really stay out the way. Cashapp 100K? Beat it.”
