“They will come back”– Red Bull is sure of Mercedes fightback
“They will come back”– Red Bull is absolutely sure of Mercedes giving a fightback despite the two setbacks to them in Monaco and Baku.
Red Bull managed to weigh up against Mercedes after two crucial wins in Monaco and Baku, bringing the Milton-Keynes-based team to the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Mercedes had a rough two Grand Prix, as they could only collect seven points from the two races, pushing them back in the fight against Red Bull for the title.
Despite the two incredible results, Honda’s F1 technical director Toyoharu Tanabe, whose company provides the power unit to Red Bull, has said that he does not doubt Mercedes fight back in the following races.
“Mercedes is not a silent team,” he said according to the Motorsport. “Of course, I think they will come back. The [Baku] results are good, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to be good at coming races.”
Christian Horner wants to analyse Mercedes in standard circuits
Tanabe is not the only one in Red Bull camp to think same about Mercedes on the standard circuits, as Verstappen already called them stronger on ‘normal circuits.
Meanwhile, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is intrigued to know how the return of standard circuits alters the current trends of the competition.
“Now we start going back to more classic circuits, that’s going to be interesting to see, but it’s very much game on,” he said. On the other hand, Verstappen is still a bit optimistic about the upcoming races.
“I think so far this year, Honda made a good step forward,” he said. “I think we’re very close in performance. Sometimes it can also be difficult to say with wing levels or whatever, but I think overall we are getting closer and closer.”
