“You need to get your head checked”: Charles Barkley takes shots at ‘soft’ NBA fans and players for taking themselves too seriously
Charles Barkley says he’ll continue to have fun in his TNT studio and prank everyone. In his belief, basketball is nothing to get serious about.
The award-winning studio analyst has made a reputation as somebody who’s always taken jokes in his stride. In his own words, he’s willing to explore the world and himself a lot more than others.
As a player who did an ad saying ‘I’m not a role model’, Barkley has always been this way. That’s perhaps the reason why he’s quite aggrieved at the current climate of television. He’s also from the old guard when it comes to jokes and pranks.
Chuck joined Danny Rouhier on 106.7 FM The Fan’s podcast a few days back. Rouhier is the same sportscaster who was recently featured on Inside the NBA for his Charles Barkley impressions.
Charles Barkley roasts NBA fans and players for not having fun on Danny Rouhier’s podcast
The Chuckster gave us 2 hours worth of sound bytes through 3 different segments on the podcast. He started off with a scathing indictment of how people are unable to take jokes in this day and age. He explained his own mentality with regards to sportscasting:
“I don’t understand how people get upset and don’t have fun. I mean it’s been 15 months since we’ve been going through this Covid stuff. If you take yourself too serious and then this Covid thing comes around, you’d probably have killed yourself by now.”
“So I always tell people: ‘We played basketball, and I now get paid to talk about basketball. If you get too serious about stupid basketball stuff, you need to get your head checked.”
