“This new generation spreads too much hate”: Rudy Gobert goes off on NBA fans ridiculing the Jazz loss to Paul George and the Clippers
Rudy Gobert takes to Twitter to condemn the newer generation of NBA fans who, according to him, spread way too much hate.
After posting up the best record in the NBA, the Utah Jazz marched into the Playoffs by winning their 6 games out of 7, dropping only their first against the Memphis Grizzlies due to Donovan Mitchell being sidelined. It would be nothing but a downhill ride from Game 2 of the WCSF for Rudy Gobert and the Jazz as they go on to lose 4 straight to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Even more heartbreaking would be the fact that the Clippers did not have Kawhi Leonard for games 5 or 6 and the Jazz lost the latter after Terrence Mann dropped a career high 39 points on them. Rudy Gobert has been on the receiving end of a substantial amount of flack for why the Jazz could not get past the second round.
In all fairness, when NBA fans say that Gobert is incapable of switching onto guards and closing out on the perimeter, they aren’t wrong. There were multiple instances where he simply gave up closing out on players spotting up from 3 and simply put his hand up from 15 feet away.
Rudy Gobert calls out this generation for spreading hate.
After a fan took to Twitter to condemn people for insulting NBA players, Rudy Gobert hopped onto the social media platform and agreed with him as well. “That’s the new generation unfortunately, and I don’t blame them. They are a product of our society. Spreading hate because they really not happy inside and it’s sad.”

Don’t get it twisted: Rudy Gobert is an all-time great defender. His mere presence in the paint alters players’ decisions when attacking down-low, leading to unfavorable shots being taken from the opposing team. However, he isn’t a ‘Swiss-army knife’ of sorts when it comes to that end of the floor.
This became apparent when the Clippers regularly rolled out their small-ball 5 with Nicholas Batum at center position. Though it may be unwarranted hate being directed towards Rudy Gobert, what fans are saying about him is true.
