Is Kawhi Leonard playing Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns? Los Angeles Clippers release new update regarding their talisman’s injury
Los Angeles Clippers talisman Kawhi Leonard is out from Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns with a right knee sprain.
The Los Angeles Clippers fell short to the Phoenix Suns despite Paul George’s best efforts. The Suns won Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, 120-114. Devin Booker who led the team to victory dropped a 40-point triple-double.
A large part of the success of the Los Angles Clippers is due to their talisman, Kawhi Leonard. He has been a massive influence on this Clippers team. Helping the side to come back twice in both rounds of the playoffs this season.
Leonard suffered a right knee sprain in the Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. He has not taken the court ever since that game and is rehabbing from the injury. He is listed as out for Game 2 in the official injury report for the Western Conference finals.
The Clippers are monitoring Kawhi Leonard’s injury as a ‘day to day situation’.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes on his appearance at NBA TV mentioned that Leonard is rehabbing in Los Angeles. He is not with the team at this moment but he is constantly in touch with them. The Clippers are monitoring his progress as a ‘day to day situation’.
Kawhi Leonard has been a metronome for the Clippers this season. The former Raptors star in 11 postseason games has averaged a mammoth 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists.
He has also been a handful on the defensive side of things with 2.1 steals per game. Leonard is shooting 57.3 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Apart from his all-round game play, the Clippers will also miss his leadership and winning mentality. His positive attitude on the court often lifts the spirit of the entire team.
He was an integral part of the Clippers in their comebacks this postseason. Therefore Ty Lue and the entire Clippers Nation will hope Leonard returns to the court soon. With him, they have the potential to clinch the title this season.
