India vs New Zealand Man of the Match: Who was awarded Man of the Match in IND vs NZ WTC Final 2021 in Southampton?
India vs New Zealand Man of the Match: The rookie all-rounder from the winning side was declared as the ‘Man of the Match’.
During the sixth day of the final match of the ICC World World Test Championship between India and New Zealand in Southampton, New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets to win a world title after losing the finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and 2019.
Chasing a 139-run target, New Zealand thrived on the back of a match-winning 96-run partnership for the third wicket between two of their best batsmen in captain Kane Williamson (52 not out) and veteran Ross Taylor (47 not out).
In a bit of a spot of bother after losing their opening batsmen in quick succession, it was Taylor who initiated the run-scoring process with Williamson guarding his end. Eventually, both the right-handed batsmen started finding their feet and were among the runs.

Given the target, one decent partnership for the Black Caps was enough to work in their favour and it is what exactly happened with Williamson and Taylor at the Ageas Bowl.
India vs New Zealand Man of the Match
Playing only his eighth Test match, New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson was awarded with the ‘Man of the Match’ award in the historic final. With highly disciplined bowling figures of 46-22-62-7, Jamieson was not only the highest wicket-taker in the match but also the only one to pick a five-wicket haul.
It is worth mentioning that the 26-year old player had scored an impact-generating 21 (16) in New Zealand’s first innings as his knock played a vital role in them taking a 32-run first-innings lead at the Ageas Bowl.
“To have something of this context in Test cricket is massive and to be standing up here is surreal. We knew we had a big first hour, and just to see how things panned out.
“We were hopeful they might pan out our way if we put the ball in the right place, but we knew this is a quality Indian team as well. It was nice to get the ball first up and to play a part, I guess. The work that Tim [Southee], Trent [Boult], Wags [Neil Wagner] do, I just ride in on the back of that,” Jamieson was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.
