“Kevin Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan”: NBA legend Vince Carter explains his controversial take on siding with Steve Kerr on the Brooklyn star being more gifted than Michael Jordan

Former Toronto Raptors legend Vince Carter agrees with Steve Kerr’s take that Kevin Durant is more gifted than Chicago legend Michael Jordan.

This season, Kevin Durant showed it to the world, why he is considered to be one of the all-time greats. Despite sitting out for a year and a half because of a horrific Achilles injury, KD put on an impressive display of performance, throughout the regular and especially in the postseason.

The Slim Reaper had a historic playoffs series this campaign. Even though his star-studded Brooklyn Nets team surprisingly got eliminated in the second round, Durantula played at the highest level, with his fellow all-stars being sidelined with injuries. His performance against the Bucks is one of his best performances, putting up an outstanding 37.4 points, 12 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the 7-game series.

Several NBA legends, analysts and fellow players gave some high praises to the 11-time All-Star. However, Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors head coach, arguably had the best compliment for the 6-foot-11 forward, calling Kevin “more gifted” than Michael Jordan. Here’s what Kerr said:

“I think he’s (KD) more gifted (than Michael Jordan). I really do. That’s saying something. Kevin is a different, entirely different breed.”

Vince Carter admits to agreeing with Steve Kerr

Following GSW’s bold statement, several NBA legends and analysts reacted and gave their opinions. While ESPN’s Stephen A Smith begged to differ with Kerr, P.J. Carlesimo and Vince Carter agreed with Steve’s statements.

On an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up”, Vince Carter revealed how he was “rattled” when he first heard what the GSW head coach had to say. However, he did ultimately agree that Durant is indeed more gifted than His Airness. The former high flyer said:

“He’s not saying ‘Kevin Durant’s the greatest player of all time. He’s saying he’s more gifted, and I agree with that. Here’s why I say that: I think Kevin Durant being 6-11, can get to where he wants to get to, and if you particularly happen to stay in front of him and guard him, he can still shoot over you.”

“Not like Michael Jordan couldn’t do that, don’t get me wrong, but [Durant] has a gift. He’s athletic; he can do whatever you wish to do as a fan or a basketball player.”

It is truly magnificent to see what KD has been able to achieve this season. Very few players have been successfully able to recover from such a scary injury, let alone play at the level like before.

Even though all these analysts and legends are justifying themselves, the truth of the matter is, there just isn’t any simple answer for this take. Both, KD and Mike both are two of the greatest players ever to grace the league.
