“It would be disingenuous of the FIA not to look at the front wing”– Red Bull demands to have a front-wing test after rear-wing row.
Mercedes objected to Red Bull’s alleged violation with the flexibility of its rear wings and prompted FIA to order a new inquiry for the suspected breach of rules.
In response, Red Bull a week later targetted the apparent flexibility of Mercedes’ level fields, and ask a test for the same part to balance the unbiased nature of the governing body.
“Obviously a lot of noise was made about the rear wing,” said Horner. “New tests were introduced and the car has obviously fully complied with those rules at all times.
“But it would be disingenuous of the FIA not to look at the front wing in the same way. And of course, we’ve seen footage across recent races and obviously, we’re just looking for consistency – consistency of application of the regulations that deal with the rear wing.”
“And obviously, the front wing falls into that same category. And so the main thing we are seeking through all of this is a consistent application.”
Teams will be alerted
Michael Masi has assured that teams will be given prior notice for the front-wing testing if a need of stricter tests is required, just like they sent to all the teams before the rear-wing testing.
“Obviously, as you are well aware, I am not in charge of the technical element, so that is very much in the domain of my colleague Nicholas Tombazis,” said Masi.
“Having said that, with regards to the TD that came about and has been implemented and any further changes, if they are deemed necessary, to the procedures the FIA undertake, if required, the appropriate notice period will be advised to everyone equally.”
