“Ben Simmons needs to play at summer leagues”: Magic Johnson gives advice to the Sixers star to help raise his confidence amidst horrid shooting woes
Ben Simmons receives advice from Magic Johnson who tells the Sixers star to join summer leagues and play more pick-up games this offseason.
Talking about Ben Simmons and his reluctance to shoot during games is quite literally the NBA’s version of beating a dead horse. This information has been relayed over and over again and slandering the Australian native for not working on his jumpshot during the summer has gotten quite stale. There’s only so much rage niche NBA podcasters can muster when talking about Simmons.
Now is the time that proper and valid solutions be provided for the Sixers guard/forward to gain confidence in his shot. It’s quite strange that nearly every offseason brings about yet another Ben Simmons ‘mixtape’ that shows his shooting prowess during pick-up games in rec leagues.
However, the monumental pressure that’s been placed on Simmons’s shoulders to help do things on the court he’s simply not comfortable doing, is astonishing. It’s been made very apparent that this pressure from fans and media alike has stripped him of his confidence to do things that he excels in as well.
Magic Johnson has some sound advice for Ben Simmons.
It’s quite interesting to see Ben Simmons receive advice from a man who many dubbed to be the legend who Simmons resembles the most. The multiple time All-Star has been dubbed as being the second coming of Magic Johnson for years now, and it is Magic who is now on First Take giving Ben tips on what to do this summer to become his fully actualized self.
“To me, he needs to play more basketball, even getting in a summer league or something. Play more basketball and just take shots from the outside. Pickup games where they can bring him his confidence.”
This is great advice; however, being told to play more basketball when you’re a professional basketball isn’t groundbreaking by any means. It’s been well documented that Ben Simmons’s confidence is in shambles right now so getting on the court will surely help him build it back up.
