Samoa Joe reveals backstage reaction after injuring Seth Rollins on WWE debut. A freak accident on his first appearance resulted in Rollins injuring his knee.

Imagine making your WWE main roster debut in a segment involving franchise player and main event talent Seth Rollins as WWE Legend Triple H’s hired hand. Unfortunately, you end up hurting Rollins and he’s out injured just  months away from Wrestlemania. That’s how Samoa Joe’s debut went.

The former United States Champion appeared on Ryan Satin’s Out of Character podcast where they discussed the incident. He was asked if he caught heat backstage for what had just happened. The injury afterall, had Wrestlemania implications for both Rollins and Triple H.

Joe clarified that he did not get into any trouble for the accident that left Rollins with an MCL tear in his right knee. In fact, Rollins himself absolved Joe and put it down to ‘one of those things that happen.’

“It was generally just that [no blame on him], one of those things that happen. There was no heat or anger or upset about it. It was just really a freak thing. Foot gets planted, just perfect the right way, pressure’s going back and I’m falling on my back. The knee gets caught up and there it goes.

“Seth, I’ve known for a very, very long time. I wanna say since pretty close to when he started. I even told him back then, ‘You’re gonna be a star.’ Seeing him this early, maybe three or four months into his career. To see that [injury], it broke my heart.”

Joe went on to add that it was fun to work with Rollins and Triple H but the night itself is hard to look back at due to the incident.

“For sure [enjoyed working with Rollins and Triple H], but Seth’s knee getting destroyed right off the get was definitely not cool. That was kind of like, ‘Urgh.’ You felt terrible for Seth. Seth was like, ‘Hey, man, it’s one of those things that happen.’ Like I said, my career path has definitely not been par for the course when it comes to twists and turns, and that was definitely one of the bad twists.”
