“My Phoenix Suns are going to the NBA Finals”: Charles Barkley predicted that Chris Paul and co. would defeat the Los Angeles Clippers in the WCF to advance to their first NBA finals in 28 years
Charles Barkley rightly predicted that the Phoenix Suns would defeat Paul George’s Los Angeles Clippers to enter their first NBA finals in almost 3 decades.
Over the last couple of seasons, the Phoenix Suns have merely been a lottery team. However, ever since they went 8-0 in the NBA Bubble last year, they showed the potential of being a great team. It seems as if Chris Paul was the only missing piece Devin Booker and co. needed.
In this campaign, the Phoenix franchise stunned several teams in the league once they finished with the second-best 51-21 record in the West. Behind the leadership of CP3 and Booker, the organization made it to the postseason for the first time in 10 years.
After defeating Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, the Suns have also advanced to their first NBA Finals appearance in nearly three decades.
Charles Barkley had called it, before Game 6, that the Phoenix Suns would advance to the NBA Finals
In a 130-103 Game 6 win, it was Chris who led his team with 41 points and 8 assists performance to clinch the Western Conference Championship, after defeating LAC 4-2.
Most of the analysts and former legends had picked the Suns to come out of the Western Conference. In fact, Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley was one of the several people to have faith in his former team.
Even when Phoenix had lost Game 5 of the series, Chuck went on to boldly state that Monty Williams’ boys will end up making it to the finals.
We all know that Sir Charles’ “guarantees” have been a little off this postseason, however, this was one of the few predictions which the Hall-Of-Famer did get right. On the sets of “NBA on TNT”, after Game 5, Barkley simply said:
“My Phoenix Suns are going to the finals. Hey, we are going to the finals. You can count on that brother.”

It definitely is a moment of celebration in the Phoenix locker room, especially for CP3, who for the first time in his 16-year career, has made it to the NBA Finals.
Of course, he is going to cherish this moment. But knowing the fierce competitor he is, Paul would soon be preparing for his final test before he wins that long-coveted ring.
