“Chris Paul breaks a record previously held by Michael Jordan”: Suns star rewrites record books, becomes oldest player to post 40+ points in a closeout game over Bulls legend

Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul passes Michael Jordan in unbelievable playoff record after his 41-point explosion against the Clippers. 

Who is still yet to give Chris Paul his flowers? No one? Good. We’re sure everyone knows this already, but we feel like we need to say it again. THE MAN IS DOING THIS AT 36-YEARS-OLD!

Yes, the Clippers were not at full strength, but they were clearly nothing to sneeze at either. And with his co-star in Devin Booker struggling massively on the night, CP3 guided his team to an emphatic 130-103 victory.

With this win, the Phoenix Suns have booked their place in the NBA Finals in just 6 games. But that wasn’t the only thing that was achieved this night.

A certain point-god made history tonight, passing the great Michael Jordan in an incredible playoff record. And let’s just say, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be broken anytime soon.

Chris Paul becomes the oldest player in NBA history to drop over 40 points in a closeout game in the playoffs 

You know you’ve done well when you pass Michael Jordan in something.

Despite being a capable scorer, Chris Paul is known for his play-making and floor general abilities a lot more. So, when the player did what he did, needless to say, he left the whole NBA community absolutely stunned.

More specifically, the star recorded 41 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals, on 66.7% from the field, and 87.5% from three. Needless to say, the Point God ran rampant during this game. And as a result, he also broke a long-standing NBA record. Take a look at the tweet below.

Out of the many players 36 and older now, perhaps only LeBron James has the ability to surpass Chris Paul here. But, if the Lakers star can’t do it, we think it’ll at least be a few years before anyone breaks this incredible record.
