“We’ll be back”: Hawks superstar Trae Young promises to run it back with his beloved Hawks teammates after immense 2020-21 season under Nate McMillan

In a first, Trae Young hasn’t tweeted “Another day, Another Opportunity” on his Twitter handle today. This was the first time in several months.

It would not be wrong to say that Ice Trae has given a new lease of life to the Hawks franchise. Their recent run in the playoffs has been nothing short of extraordinary.

The Hawks fell short of reaching their first NBA Finals since 1960. The Atlanta team were the underdogs entering the ECF against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Despite this, the Hawks stole Game one on the road, which surprised everyone. Young was sensational that night, torching a 48-point performance with 11 assists on a 50.0% shooting from the field.

With the series being tied 1-1, the 22-year old sustained a bone bruise in Game three after inadvertently stepping on an official’s foot and twisting his ankle in Game 3.

This led to the Bucks gaining the lead in the series, with Young being out for the next two games.

The 2020 NBA All-Star averaged 28.8 PPG, 9.5 APG, and 1.3 SPG as he shot 41.8% from the field and 86.6% from the free-throw line.

Trae Young led the Hawks to the 2021 eastern conference finals

There Hawks had minimal expectations entering the 2021 NBA Playoffs. The hiring of Nate McMillan as an interim coach proved to be a runaway success. McMillan was 26-12 in the 38-games that he coached the Hawks for during the regular season.

The Hawks finished as the 5th seed in the eastern conference and faced the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

Young was unstoppable in the first round as the Hawks defeated the Knicks 4-1. The 22-year old silenced the loud and aggressive crowd of MSG with his noteworthy performances.

The Hawks would face the 1st seed Philadelphia 76ers in the semi-finals of the eastern conference. The Philly team was highly favored during the series as they had the likes of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, who were All-NBA First Team and All-NBA Defensive First Team respectively.

The Hawks, who didn’t have a single All-Star from this year in their team, defeated the 76ers in seven games causing one of the biggest upsets in recent times.

Their worst being blowing a 26-point lead in the 4th quarter of Game Five and the Hawks employing the Hack-a-Simmons during the clutch moments of the match.

Though the Atlanta Hawks fell a little short of creating history. There is no doubt that this young team possesses a lot of talent. Trae Young is a bonafide superstar, who at the age of 22 carried the whole team to the ECF.
