“It’s mentally a different situation”– Nico Rosberg understands why Red Bull doesn’t want to recall Pierre Gasly
“It’s mentally a different situation”– Nico Rosberg understands why Red Bull isn’t in the favour of recalling Pierre Gasly from Alpha Tauri.
Red Bull is in a conundrum over Pierre Gasly’s situation, and are delaying his progress by keeping him in the junior team of Red Bull- Alpha Tauri and also doesn’t want to lose him.
Despite the two powerful years with Alpha Tauri after his return from Red Bull’s main team, he hasn’t been given another chance, and right now Sergio Perez has taken over his previous seat.
So, most likely, Gasly would be poached by another team, compelling Red Bull to lose an excellent driver, but Nico Rosberg understands the dilemma of Red Bull and calls it a mentality issue with Gasly.
“You mustn’t forget that it’s mentally a different situation now. He no longer has Max Verstappen at his side in the same car. Who knows, maybe that was the problem he couldn’t cope with mentally having such a strong teammate,” said Rosberg to Motosport-total.com.
“That’s the problem for Red Bull, why they have probably not yet decided on him. Yes, he delivers at AlphaTauri but they don’t know whether he is would deliver the same at Red Bull.”
Pierre Gasly attracting interest
Even Gasly understands that his situation in Red Bull is not stable, and he has to push for a better role in a competitive team or compete for a spot in Red Bull.
In a recent interview, Gasly talked about the interest he has been getting from other teams after his recent performances with Alpha Tauri’s limited resources.
“Yes, [there is] interest; I’m trying my best, showing my potential, giving my best with AlphaTauri and I think what we are doing at the moment is very good,” said Gasly.
Furthermore, Gasly also confessed that there are talks with Red Bull over what to do in 2022.
