“Jrue Holiday will be there when we need him”: Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo comes out in support of his teammate despite his poor performances in the 2021 NBA Finals

Milwaukee superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo backs Jrue Holiday, who lately has been struggling from the field in the 2021 NBA Finals.

The Bucks are down 0-2 in the NBA Finals currently. As the series shifts to the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee for Games Three and Four, the Bucks are eager to even the series at home.

One of the major reasons for the Bucks’ losses in Games One and Two has been the inefficiency of its backcourt. Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton have been struggling from the field.

In both Games One and Two, the Bucks have relied solely on Giannis Antetokounmpo for their offense. The Greek Freak is averaging 31.o PPG, 14.5 RPG, 1.5 SPG, and 2.0 BPG so far in the Finals.

The Phoenix Suns, who are currently leading the series 2-0, have had their duo of Chris Paul and Devin Booker perform exceptionally well. The Suns’ backcourt has combined for 113-points so far in the Finals.

Recently 2x NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo came out in support of his teammate Jrue Holiday, who has been receiving a lot of flak for his performances in Games One and Two of the NBA Finals.

Earlier this year, the elite two-way guard signed a 5-year $160M extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. Holiday had an impressive regular season with the Bucks, averaging 17.7 PPG, 6.1 APG, and 4.5 RPG on a 50.3% shooting from the field and 39.2% from the 3-point line.

However, Holiday has been underperforming in the NBA Finals so far. The former NBA All-Star is averaging 13.5 PPG, 8.0 APG, and 6.0 RPG on a dismal 31.4% from the field and 14.3% from the 3-point line.

However, his teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo does not doubt his potential.

“I know he’s going to be there when we need him the most, and I don’t worry about it. He’s a great basketball player. He’s played great all year, and he’s going to continue to play great for this team.”

Though Holiday has been inefficient from the field when it comes to his offense lately but has been contributing significantly on the defensive end, especially during the series against the Brooklyn Nets.

Giannis added, “Just keep talking to him, keep telling him to be aggressive, No matter what’s going on, you’ve got to stay aggressive, and you cannot get in your feelings. It’s hard not to.”

“You know, NBA Finals, 20,000 people booing you and all that, it’s kind of hard. … If there’s a game that you’re 3-for-12 or whatever the case might be, and you can rebound the ball or get a steal or do something else to help the team win, that’s what it’s all about right now. I think he understands that.”

As the series shifts to Milwaukee for Games Three and Four, it will be interesting to see if Holiday can end his rough patch and be back to winning ways.
