Chris Paul reveals the life lesson that Lakers legend Kobe Bryant imparted to him that has allowed him to play at a high level even at 36-years-old

 

Right now, Chris Paul is fighting against father time, and actually winning the battle.

At 36-years-old, the player has made his first ever NBA Finals, with the Suns even leading 2-1 in the series. However, this level of fitness and greatness at this age wouldn’t be possible without an incredible level of work ethic and tenacity.

When he was asked about how he keeps himself going at this level, the Point God brought up Kobe. And in his interview, he explained how the Lakers legend has been a massive reason behind the length of his career.

“You just got to fall in love with it”: Chris Paul reveals the mantra that has kept him going for so long in his NBA career

 Kobe Bryant was perhaps the most obsessed with the sport of basketball in the history of the NBA, and it always showed.

His greatness and mastery in the sport were otherworldly. It’s no wonder the NBA community has always compared him to the likes of Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

His obsession for the craft is something that many in the league have since inherited. And as CP3 reveals, that obsession is the very reason he is in the finals in the first place right now. Here is what he had to say.

“I know the work that I put in, day in and day out. I don’t think about being 36 when I step out on the court. It’s a lot of commitment, a lot of days to make sure you get your body ready for the game. But when you’re competitive, it’s nothing.

“Kobe said it some years ago, ‘you just got to fall in love with it’, the repetition of it…Some people might be like, ‘oh it’s like Groundhog Day’ but not me. Not me. Because I love to play, and I wanna play at a high level.”

It is nothing less than inspiring to see an all-time great to persevere through all the doubt and criticism to stand the chance to attain success. But, will Chris Paul be able to win his first-ever championship? Or will the Suns be left hoping?
