“I’m little bit taller than Giannis Antetokounmpo, so that might help”: Former NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar discusses a 1-on-1 matchup with the Milwaukee superstar
Former 19-time All-Star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar talks about a hypothetical 1-on-1 matchup with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, says the match would be interesting.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest basketball players ever. Long before the league was dominated by the likes of any LeBrons or Jordans or Bryants, it was Kareem who was running the show all through the 1970s and 1980s.
With his famous Skyhook move, the 7-foot-2 barbarian was practically unguardable. Because of which Jabbar was able to terrorise the league, scoring an insane number of points at will. There was nobody who wanted the misfortune of guarding the Hall-Of-Famer.
Amidst the ongoing Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns series, the 20-year veteran was asked an interesting question. In a recent interview, the NBA 2K22 cover athlete of the game’s legend edition was asked about a hypothetical 1-on-1 matchup against the Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar discusses a 1-on-1 matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the best big men in basketball history, with an illustrious resume built over a 20-year span. With 19 All-Star appearances, 6 MVPs, 6 Championships, 2 Finals MVPs, 15 All-NBA selections, 11 All-Defensive selections, 38,387 points scored and many more, there is virtually nothing that Abdul-Jabbar hadn’t achieved.
However, when asked about a hypothetical 1-on-1 matchup against the current Bucks star, Kareem, humbly enough, said he didn’t have a clue. The 74-year-old revealed:
“I have no idea. I’m a little bit taller than Giannis, so that might help. That would have been an interesting matchup if I could have learned all the requisite skills.”
Jabbar further gave some huge praise to The Greek Freak.
“What’s your favourite part about watching him (Giannis)?”
“His (Giannis) approach to the game is so radically different. But it is working,” Kareem answered.
He led the @Bucks to their lone title 50 years ago.

While Giannis and his Bucks lead the Suns 3-2 in the Finals, Milwaukee is very well close to bringing the Larry O’Brien trophy to their city for the first time in 50 years. The last person to win Milwaukee the NBA trophy? Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself. If the Bucks do manage to win it all this year, the Jabbar-Antetokounmpo will surely skyrocket amongst the Milwaukee fan base.
