WI vs AUS Head to Head Records: The SportsRush presents for you the Head to Head statistics for the first WI vs AUS ODI.

The first ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of West Indies will be played today in Bridgetown, Barbados. Due to different time zones, the match will be played on July 20 in the Caribbean, USA and England and on July 21 in India, Australia and New Zealand.

West Indies, who most recently defeated Australia 4-1 in the five-match T20I series, would want to continue their domination against Australia who are missing many first-choice players due to various reasons.

Given the uncertainty around West Indies captain Kieron Pollard’s availability for the first ODI, it won’t be a surprise if wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran continues to lead them. If it happens, it will be the first time that Pooran will captain West Indies in ODIs.

Much like Pooran, Australia wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey has been named as their designated captain for the Kensington Oval ODI as regular skipper Aaron Finch has aggravated a knee injury.

The last time West Indies and Australia had played an ODI against each other was during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Trent Bridge. After the then West Indies captain Jason Holder invited Australia to bat first, they had scored 288/10 in 49 overs on the back of Nathan Coulter-Nile’s career-best 92 (60) comprising of nine fours and four sixes.

Despite half-centuries from wicket-keeper batsman Shai Hope (68) and Holder (51) in the second innings, West Indies fell short by 15 runs primarily due to Mitchell Starc’s game-changing bowling figures of 10-1-46-5.
