“Michael Jordan says he’s my older brother, but he’s only 3 days older”: When Charles Barkley and the GOAT roasted each other on the Oprah Winfrey Show
Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have always shared great camaraderie, which they displayed during their appearance on Oprah’s show.
It’s been a long time since Jordan agreed to an interview with a big-time television show. The man prefers to stay out of the mainstream spotlight while concentrating on his numerous business interests and sporting ventures.
However, when he does open himself up to the public, the man that we do see is one who’s clearly well-versed with how to present himself and his thoughts to others. After all, Jordan might have been the most famous American on the planet for several decades.
Jordan and Barkley were rivals in the league during their prime. Jordan’s Bulls always got the better of Barkley’s Sixers and Suns in the playoffs, but the nature of the competition was such that they maintained a mutual respect.
On top of that, the two hit it off amazingly off the court. They even went golfing, played cards and competed off the court in this fashion. Unfortunately, their friendship suffered a dent in 2012 when Barkley criticized his decision-making as Bobcats owner.

When we look back at happier times, one of the best memories the general public has of the duo together is from their appearance on the Oprah show. Chuck’s amazing sense of humor was never on better display than at this stage.
He started the show off by entering the stage wearing Jordan Brand joggers and posing for the cameras. And his response to Oprah’s question about their relationship started the interview off in hilarious fashion:
“He says he’s my older brother, but he’s only 3 days older. That’s what he always says. I think the difference is, he might be wiser, but I’m willing to take more chances.”
“I’ll challenge people if I think they’re wrong. I don’t worry about controversy or what people think of me, I’m always trying to get to the next place. And I’m willing to take that chance.”
“Half the people are gonna like it and half are not, but the half that dislike you, they just dislike you because they like stuff. So you know.”
