“I see a lot of myself in Chris Paul, but I was bolder”: Isiah Thomas gives a bittersweet compliment to Suns star after 4-2 loss to Bucks in NBA Finals
Pistons legend Isiah Thomas compares himself to Chris Paul but marks out one key difference between the two of them as players.
Chris Paul may not have won the ring this year, but the greatness of the Suns star better not be forgotten.
At 36-years-old, not only was he arguably the best player on a finals team but also fought through injuries to put up the performances he did.
While we will admit some of his performances were lackluster against Milwaukee, his overall dominance in the playoffs, in general, shouldn’t be dismissed. After all, he is one of the greatest point guards to ever lace up. And that is an opinion that Pistons legend Isiah Thomas seems to agree wholeheartedly with.
In a recent interview, Zeke was asked to reveal his thoughts on the Point God. And in response, the legend had some very interesting things to say.
“I see a lot of my game in Chris Paul”: Isiah Thomas gushes about his similarities with CP3
In quite a few ways, the games of Chris Paul and Isiah Thomas really aren’t that different from each other. Both played at point guard and are severely undersized. Both players had a seriously tight handle, and also the ability to make those around them better.
However, there is one incredibly massive difference between the two. And, in a recent interview with Rex Chapman, Thomas revealed just what it was.
“I see a lot of my game (in Chris Paul) but I also see where I probably was a little bit bolder on the offensive side… In terms of like that knockout moment that you need where it’s like okay, I can pass it right now, but I’m going to make that 2 or 3 shot that’s gonna really break your heart, that’s gonna hurt your heart.”

Well, he wasn’t part of the Bad Boy Pistons for nothing. Isiah Thomas really knew how to break your heart in more ways than one. And as many of his rivals would argue, he could break more than just your heart as well.
At this point we’re just happy CP3 doesn’t share that trait with him either.
