Magic’s inspiring battle with HIV
The 61-year old is an inspiration for millions who have fought a life-threatening disease such as HIV. Magic would have to take a premature retirement in 1991 when he had tested positive for HIV.
However, the superstar showed a heart of steel as he would battle the disease and return back to court for the 1992 NBA All-Star weekend, where he was crowned the MVP as well.
The point guard would then join the Dream Team in their quest for gold in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. The team would win gold, with Magic receiving standing ovations from people in the crowd.
Magic used this as an opportunity to inspire thousands of HIV-positive people.
