“Hungover Jrue Holiday was the best player on Team USA”: NBA Fans praise Bucks star’s gritty performance after Kevin Durant foul trouble contributes to France beating reigning Olympic gold medalists
NBA fans were disgusted after Jrue Holiday, who just landed in Tokyo yesterday, led Team USA in points, assists and minutes in a stunning loss to France in the opening game of their 2021 Olympic campaign.
In a shocking turn of events, the USA Men’s Basketball Team just lost their first-ever Olympic match in almost 17 years, breaking their incredible 24-game winning streak. On Sunday morning, Kevin Durant and co. started their 2021 Tokyo Olympic campaign against current DPOY Rudy Gobert and his French National Team.
For a team, comprised of mainly superstars and future Hall-Of-Famers, Team USA was favoured to win each and every game in these games. However, it was France who closed the game on a 16-2 run to defeat the defending Olympic champions 83-76.
While Evan Fournier stood out for his team, dropping 28 crucial points, it was unexpected seeing Jrue Holiday be the best American player out on the court. For someone who is coming off an NBA title win, partied at Milwaukee’s championship parade and got off a 15-hour flight, calling Holiday’s performance incredible would be an understatement.

The Milwaukee Bucks two-way guard had a sensational night, leading the team with 18 points, 4 assists and 27:52 minutes. On the other hand, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum had an inefficient night, shooting a combined 10-28 from the field.

NBA Fans just couldn’t believe the historic loss they had just witnessed. While lauding Jrue, NBA Twitter was mocking the entire Team USA.
KD couldn’t even lead his team full of stars. Jrue Holiday came off a championship only a few days ago and he still played better than anybody. Lebron would never… https://t.co/G5t7nNLPRs pic.twitter.com/GZ425hjF1q

Also when a still soaked in champagne Jrue Holiday is your lead scorer … USA Basketball has problems.

For years the USA has been deemed an unbeatable team. This Team USA loss will be a huge morale booster for the remaining countries in the competition. However, they will surely be looking to bounce back from this disappointing loss in their next game against Iran.
