“Evan Mobley isn’t interested in joining the Rockets”: Potential no.2 overall pick ‘disinterested’ while Jalen Green seen at Tilman Fertitta’s hotel in Houston ahead of 2021 NBA Draft
Evan Mobley has reportedly ‘stonewalled’ the Rockets while Jalen Green has been spotted in Houston at Tilman Fertitta’s hotel with his girlfriend.
With the 2021 NBA Draft right around the corner, news surrounding the top 3 teams (Pistons, Rockets, and Cavaliers) has been rampant on social media. Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, and Cade Cunningham seem like locks for going to these three teams in no particular order. However, after today, it’s more likely that Mobley will drop to the 3rd spot.
According to Evan Mobley’s camp, the USC big-man is disinterested in the Houston Rockets using their pick to draft him 2nd overall. The fit with the Rockets would’ve been quite intriguing as you could technically play him alongside Christian Wood due to his switchability on defense and the floor spacing he provides.
“League sources have indicated there is a level of disinterest within Evan Mobley’s camp regarding Houston as a destination, raising questions as to whether that potential marriage would be ideal for either side.”

Jalen Green on the other hand, is reportedly very welcoming of the idea of being drafted by the Rockets as the 2nd overall pick.
Jalen Green spotted in Houston at Tilman Fertitta’s hotel
A couple of eagle-eyed NBA fans noticed that Jalen Green’s girlfriend took to her Instagram to show off the hotel that she was staying at with the G-League alum.
Apparently, this is the same hotel Stephen Silas stayed at prior to being named the Rockets head coach and it just so happens to be Tilman Fertitta’s hotel.
This leads many to believe that Green was in Houston for a workout, something Evan Mobley hasn’t done as of yet and probably won’t in the future.
According to Jonathan Givony, he’s ‘stonewalled’ the Rockets and will not be working out for them. Green is also considered to be a ‘lock’ for the number 2 pick.
There were rumblings of Houston potentially moving up the draft to the number 1 spot to try and snag Cade Cunningham but considering the fact that the Oklahoma State alum is high on becoming a Piston, this probably won’t happen.
