Man of the Series: The Sri Lankan all-rounder has won his second Man of the Series award in the shortest format at the highest level.
During the third T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Sri Lanka in Colombo, Sri Lanka beat India by 7 wickets to register a 2-1 series victory. Having last won a T20I bilateral series almost a couple of years ago, Sri Lanka have emerged as the victorious team after five series.
India, on the other hand, have lost a T20I series after almost 30 months. Their last series loss in this format was against Australia at home in 2o19. Since then, India had won seven and drawn one T20I series.
Scheduled to play the qualifiers ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, there could have been no better practice for the hosts than drubbing the second-ranked India.

“The wicket was slow, and our spinners bowled really well. When I bowl, I always try to bowl dot balls. That helps in getting wickets. The fielding also helps. I am really happy because other boys played really well throughout the series, both in ODIs and T20Is,” Hasaranga was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.
Hasaranga, who is celebrating his 24th birthday today, emerged as the highest wicket-taker picking seven wickets in three matches at an average of 9.57, an economy rate of 5.58 and a strike rate of 10.2. Readers must note that Hasaranga was also the Man of the Series during Sri Lanka’s last series victory against Pakistan in Lahore.
