“Jayson Tatum would be the next guy to surpass me”: Kevin Durant takes over Carmelo Anthony as the top scorer in the USA Olympic History

Team USA forward Kevin Durant surpasses Carmelo Anthony as the top scorer in USA Olympic History, claims Jayson Tatum would overtake him

Team USA clears the group stages and moves on to the Quarter Finals. They registered an emphatic 119-84 win over the Czech Republic to do the same. The Czech shook the Americans as they scored 25-18 in the first quarter to take a lead. However, Team USA came out strong in the second quarter and soon took over the lead. Kevin Durant led the scoring and Jayson Tatum provided the boost on both sides of the floor.

KD ended the game with 23 points in 27 minutes. He also added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jayson Tatum scored 27 points to lead all scorers. Jrue Holiday scored 11 points while Draymond Green and Khris Middleton scored 8 points each.

Entering the third game of the Group stage, Kevin Durant trailed Carmelo Anthony by 19 points for the top scorer in USA Olympic Basketball History. Durant scored a 3 pointer during the second quarter to take the title for himself.

While Durant took the bench for most of the second half, Jayson Tatum started a barrage from the deep. The Celtics’ forward scored 27 points, shooting 5/10 from the deep. After the game, KD was asked about the newly made Team USA record. Durant claims Tatum would be next in line to achieve the record.

Whether Tatum could achieve all the Durantula expects of him is something we’ll see in the future. As of now, Team USA would like to focus on getting the Gold in Tokyo and prepare for the upcoming Quarter Finals.
