“Draymond Green won two Gold medals and two rings because of Kevin Durant”: Skip Bayless outlines the irony behind the Warriors star showing off his hardware at Summer League
Skip Bayless says that it’s quite ironic Draymond Green is walking around Summer League with his Gold Medal as he won it due to Kevin Durant.
Much has been said about the fall-out that Kevin Durant and Draymond Green suffered during their last season together on the Golden State Warriors. What caused this fall-out was an altercation that ensued between the two during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers early on in the 2018-19 season.
Kevin Durant has confirmed that the quarrel that took place between both stars is what led to him ultimately deciding to ditch the Bay relocate out East. Their bickering however, doesn’t take away from the fact that both were integral parts to a team that won two straight NBA championships, with the former SuperSonic taking home Finals MVP in both outings.
This wasn’t the first time that Draymond Green received some help from the ‘Slim Reaper’ in capturing some serious hardware. The two teamed up on Team USA for the 2016 Olympics and captured Gold.
Skip Bayless credits Draymond Green’s accomplishments to Kevin Durant.
After having won Gold in men’s basketball at Tokyo 2020 over France, Draymond Green decided to pull up to Summer League in Las Vegas while showing off his newly acquired medal. Skip Bayless however, seems to find this ironic as he believes that the reason Green even has two rings from 2017 and 2018 and two Golds is because of Kevin Durant.
Watching Draymond walk proudly into GSt’s Summer League game wearing his gold medal. The irony: Draymond now has two golds and two rings in large part because of a man he once clashed with (and insulted) during a game at Clippers … Kevin Durant. #BestPlayerOnThePlanet

Technically, Bayless isn’t wrong. Without KD, the Warriors may not have beaten the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, and it’s very plausible that a Durant-less Team USA in 2020 wouldn’t have even made it to the Gold medal game.
However, there was no real reason to point out the ‘irony’ behind him showing off his medal in this scenario as there’s nothing to it other than the fact that, well, he’s showing off his medal at Summer League.
