Potential rain threat as dark clouds loom large over India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI
After India’s 1-0 Test series win over Sri Lanka, the ODI series promises to keep the fans at the edge of their seats. Rohit Sharma and Thisara Perera, two newly appointed captains, would love to make their mark in this series, but there is this little matter of the rain, that needs to be dealt with at Dharamshala.
Dark clouds hover over the picturesque stadium in Dharamshala, and it seems like tomorrow’s 1st ODI would be rain curtailed game, and if the weather worsens, the match could be called off.
Rain is expected to lash the outskirts of Himachal Pradesh for the next two days according to the Met Department, and even Dharamshala could be affected

“Isolated heavy rain and snowfall very likely to occur over Himachal Pradesh on December 11 and 12 and scattered activity on December 13,” Manmohan Singh who is the director of Meteorological Office in Shimla, confirmed the news in a statement.
With excellent drainage facilities located in the city and with groundsmen prepared to face the situation, the fans have some hope that the match would go on.
The Media manager for HPCA, Mohit Sood was quoted as saying by IAS that, “Our groundsmen are fully prepared to handle any situation owing to the rainfall. We even have three super soakers to mop up the ground.”
BCCI have changed the timing for the 1st game owing to the dew factor in Dharamshala, and it would be interesting too see how the two teams adjust to the change in timings.
India would be hoping that they can start the ODI series on a high and prepare well for the upcoming South Africa series.
