BREAKING: India’s practice game in South Africa cancelled
Team India’s two-day Test warm-up game which was scheduled to be played in South Africa has been cancelled, which sends a bad impression to the visitors.
The release from Cricket South Africa confirmed the news on Monday that the practice game that was expected to be played at Eurolux Boland Park will no longer take place.
This could mean that India will lock horns with South Africa straightaway for the three-match Test series without having to adapt to the unfamiliar conditions.
“Please be advised that the two-day warm-up match for India at Eurolux Boland Park will no longer be taking place. India have opted for training sessions on those days,” the release from CSA said.
CSA did not give any concrete reason behind the cancellation of the warm-up game. So, India will have to sweat it out at the training sessions instead of playing the two-day practice game.
The virtual long tour beckons for India in the next year onwards as they will play three Tests, six ODIs and three T20Is in what will be their biggest test after quite a long time.
The tour is expected to kick off with the three-match Test series, the first one is scheduled to be played on January 5, Cape Town, Newlands.
Apart from the cancellation, the board has also made certain alterations in the day-night matches in the tour (apart from T20Is) as the starting match timings are subject to change, with all the games sparking off 30 minutes earlier instead of the already planned time.
As far as ODIs are concerned, five of the six matches such as the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth fixtures will kick off half an hour earlier. The rescheduled time is 13:00 local time instead of the originally scheduled 13:30.
