WATCH : MS Dhoni and Yuzi Chahal’s ‘Jugalbandi’ in the second T20
It was Rohit Sharma’s night once again, as the Hitman scored a 35-ball century to tie for the fastest century scored in T20 internationals.
For the all the talk of Virat Kohli being the stand out Indian batsman of this generation, Rohit’s limited overs record over the last couple of years has matched, and in some aspects beaten, the Delhi batsman’s record.
At his free flowing best, Rohit makes batting ridiculously easy, as the opener put on yet another exhibition against Sri Lanka last night. He was eventually dismissed for 118, but not before he dazzled the Indore crowd with an awesome display of batsmanship.
Although Perera and Tharanga put on a sterling counter-attack, the total of 260 was always going to be way too much for the Lankan batsmen.
Chahal and Yadav were once again at their brilliant best, as India’s latest bowling duo weaved their magic around the Lankan batsmen. They also had help in the form of MS Dhoni, who was constantly talking to his spinners, so much so that it felt like the former skipper was tutoring the young spinners on where and how to bowl.
In one such instance, Dhoni asked Chahal to bowl in a specific area at a particular pace. While Chahal got hammered initially, Dhoni told him to be relentless, as he will get his man in the end.
And that’s exactly how it panned out!
