“Rohit Sharma is currently a superior batsman than Virat Kohli”- Sandeep Patil
Rohit Sharma has had a fantastic last few months in an Indian jersey, having scored a ton in all three formats, and leading India to a comprehensive series win against Sri Lanka in both the ODI and T20 formats.
Rohit’s form in ODI cricket has immensely impressed Sandeep Patil, so much so that Patil went onto say that Rohit was a better batsman than Kohli in the ODI format at present.
While Virat too has been impeccable in ODI cricket, Patil feels that Rohit has been top notch and is in a different league right now.
“Virat Kohli fans might not like it but I have to say Rohit Sharma is currently the better batsman. Virat is definitely a great batsman, no doubt about it. He is India’s best Test batsman but when it comes to limited overs cricket, Rohit is ahead of him,” said Patil in an interview with ABP News.
Patil, however, feels that Virat Kohli will break a few records in South Africa this time round, but still feels that Rohit is better in the ODI format as of now.
“I’m sure Virat’ going to come back from break and score lots of runs in South Africa but when we talk about limited overs cricket this year, Rohit has been unbelievable. People may say he has played more matches against Sri Lanka but so has Virat. Whether he is playing only as a batsman or as captain Rohit has proved he is best at the moment,” said Sandeep Patil
Rohit would be hoping to now cement his place in the Indian Test setup, after having a good enough Test series against Sri Lanka, batting at number 6. The Indian Team management will have to come to a conclusion as to what combination they want to go in with, as Hardik Pandya will also be vying for that number 6 spot.
