Klopp identifies his No.1 Goalkeeper at Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp is set to bring Kevin Trapp to Liverpool this January for an estimated fee of €20 million. The PSG goalkeeper has been second fiddle to Alphonse Areola this season and is looking for regular football.
The Reds currently occupy the last champion’s league spot courtesy the fab four at the front. They have scored 41 goals so far with Mohammad Salah leading the fray with 16.
On the other hand, they have had an abysmal defensive showcase. The men at the back often look fragile- a trait which other teams have pounced on.
Mingolet’s performances have also been far from consistent-his display against Arsenal tells us the story. What should have been a comfortable victory at halftime ended as a 3-3 draw at the Emirates Stadium!

The arrival of Kevin Trapp will be a boost to the men at Anfield. A consistent performer last season, he dovetails into Liverpool’s needs. PSG are also looking to make money off him in a bid to evade the FFP penalty this season.
The goalkeeper’s agent himself confirmed that the Trapp will be leaving the French side in January if an opportunity pops up. Jorg Neubauer said, “If there is a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris.”
Kevin Trapp on potentially joining Liverpool: “It’s an amazing club with a great tradition. And of course, I’m a fan of the Premier League."

The German also confirmed his interest in joining Liverpool and he was quoted saying, “It’s an amazing club with a great tradition. And of course, I’m a fan of the Premier League. The Reds are not without interest, they have already won many titles, and Jurgen Klopp is, of course, a very good coach.”
What Trapp means for Liverpool:
This is definitely a step in the right direction- the 27-year old is a widely experienced player comfortable on the ball at his feet as well. He also commands a low price and can be a brilliant investment for Liverpool. But the German may not be enough to end all of Liverpool’s defensive woes- a defender or two must be signed. If Liverpool are to play in the Champion’s League next season, more is needed.
