Cristiano Ronaldo wants to stay at Real Madrid
Following a series of heavy linkages to former club Manchester United and even the rumors of a swap deal with David de Gea, Real Madrid main man Cristiano Ronaldo has shut down all news by claiming that he wants to stay at the Spanish capital.
A series of poor performances by Real Madrid and Cristiano himself have left the Portuguese disgruntled at the defending La Liga champions. Reports claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo felt cheated by Florentino Perez after his contract renewal involving a high pay raise was stalled.
Clinching their record 12th Champions League title in the 4-1 win over Juventus where he scored a brace, Ronaldo was promised a new contract with a humongous pay. But with Madrid shifting focus on the potential Neymar move and also swooping in Hazard and Lewandowski, the deal never came through.
“Of course I want to stay here, I love this club,” he told Chinese football app Dongqiudi.
“I like living here. I’ve lived in this city since 2009 and I love the weather and the people. It’s close to Portugal and you can get there by car. Spain is a great country, I love it.”
The Euro Cup winner also said he wants to play till the age of 41 and not stop just at 2012 when his contract runs out.
“This feeling is incredible. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of.
“Now, my plan to retire at 41 will probably be a bit more difficult to achieve, and now we live in the moment.”
“Being a coach is not part of my plan, but you also know that people change their minds. For the moment I don’t want to be a coach.”
The five-time Balon D’or winner is currently on £365,00-a-week wages that’ll run till 2021. However, with Lionel Messi and Neymar on a much higher pay contract, Cristiano won’t miss an opportunity to be on the same wages if not more.
