BCCI provides update about the Mohammad Shami case
Mohammad Shami has been given a ‘Grade B’ contract by the BCCI as the investigation carried out by BCCI’s ACU has revealed that Shami hasn’t breached BCCI’s code in any way.
Shami’s contract had been withheld due to the ongoing investigation, however, he has been cleared of all accusations that concerned BCCI
“Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter,”
The Grade B contract will see Shami earn Rs 3 crore as his annual retainer fee during the time frame October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.
Shami will now in all probability play in the IPL, wherein he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils using the RTM card.
“Match fixing charge against M Shami is the only concern ”, said Shukla earlier.
The Story of M Shami having extra-marital affairs with several women is now a subject of national gossip. It all began when his wife posted screenshots of the pacer’s personal messages with multiple women, but originality of such texts is still suspicious .
The major reason to claim that such screenshots to be totally fake is that these days there many such applications with which one can create such chats . His wife had put some major allegations involving match fixing as well.
Shami has been charged under sections 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (Causing hurt), 307 (Attempt to murder), 376 (Punishment for rape), 506 (Criminal intimidation), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence.), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
However ,the BCCI is only interested in the match fixing charge . His wife said –“ I am not only having personal grudges with Shami but he has also corrupted the game of cricket as well”
Though Shami has not been proved guilty in any of the cases by the investigation committee but board will decide his future in IPL and Indian Team only if he is free of all charges
Rajeev Shukla, chairman of IPL said they were only concerned about the ‘match-fixing allegations part’ regarding Shami’s inclusion in the Delhi Daredevils side for this season.
“I have been in touch with Neeraj Kumar, the investigating officer into this specific charge against Shami, and he has told me that a few more interrogations are pending before the closure of the case. The BCCI is only interested in this charge of his possible wrongdoing in the game before a go-ahead is given to his career. The rest is a family matter between Shami and his wife,” Shukla had told Gulf News.
Even if he is given a clean chit for allegation of match fixing the second serious allegation which may cause trouble for him is the allegation of attempt to murder by his wife .
